Watch out: 13 foods that cause bloating!

Keep a basic food diary to see if any of these apply to you...

1. Beans are part of FODMAPs, a type of carb that has been linked to digestive issues like bloating, stomach pain and gas


2. Lentils are also part of FODMAPs


3. Carbonated drinks contains carbon dioxide which can get stuck in your digestive track and cause uncomfortable bloating and cramping


4. Wheat is also part of FODMAPs and is contraversial due to the gluten it contains that can create trouble for the more gluten sensitive


5. Broccoloi & Cruciferous veg are also part of FODMAPs


6. Onions are a source of fructans, a soluble fiber, and FODMAPs


7. Barley is commonly found in cereal and contains a lot of fiber which can create bloating for those not used to a lot of fiber


8. Rye is similar to Wheat and contains gluten which can be tricky to digest


9. Dairy products can cause major issue for the lactose intolerant. About 75% of the world's population are actually lactose intolerant and cannot break down the lactose found in milk


10. Apples contain FODMAPs and fiber


11. Garlic also contain FODMAPs


12. Sugar alcohols are found in sugar-free products and gum. Typically labeled as xylitol, sorbitol and mannitol and cause bloating.


13. Beer both containts carbon dioxide and fermentable carbs... I guess you've heard the term 'beer belly'...


And lastly, the usual suspect... S-A-L-T! Eating too much salt will cause bloating and extra water retention, but also thirtst and may lead to an elevated blood presure.
